Clashes Erupt at Sudan-South Sudan Border

Dozens Killed, Peacekeeper Among Casualties

UN Condemns Violence

Intense clashes at the border between Sudan and South Sudan have left dozens of people dead, including a United Nations peacekeeper. The violence has raised concerns about the stability of the region and the potential for further escalation.

According to the UN, the clashes erupted on Wednesday, 22 June, near the disputed Abyei region. The exact cause of the fighting is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been sparked by a land dispute between the two countries.

The UN has strongly condemned the violence and called for an immediate end to hostilities. The organization has also called on both sides to refrain from any actions that could further escalate the situation.

The clashes come at a time of heightened tensions between Sudan and South Sudan. The two countries have been at odds over a number of issues, including the disputed Abyei region and the sharing of oil revenues.
